Just wondering if anyone has a list of items "The Ox" has commissioned. I know of roundwound Rotosound strings and the Marshall JCM800 Model 2001 bass amp. And of course those god-awful Alembic Buzzards.
Anything else?

Entwistle

Interesting that you list an RD Artist in your arsenal.
John Entwistle was one of the main visionaries of this bass.

I was fortunate enough to speak with the man in New York, just a few months before his death. Being an RD wielding bassist myself (used to have 6, I kept 3), I asked John about the RD & he said, quite confidently between Remy & gingers, that he actually "designed" the RD Artist bass.

I also had the opportunity to chat for a couple of hours with Bob Moog before he passed a few years ago. He had great things to say about his involvement in the design of the electronics in John's "design". The preamps are pretty much the same in all the '77-'83 Gibson "Artist" series. I remember Bob saying, "I never understood why so many guitarists were opposed to active electronics back then. There's not a single chip in the RD Artist circuit. It's all discrete components...the closest thing to a tube amp you could have onboard an instrument."

So, put that RD Bass on your Ox list!

Commisioned, you mean like special ordered?
Well, we have the:
"Fenderbirds": Gibson Thunderbird body and electronics with Fender P bass maple fretboard necks.
"Explorerbird": Explorer body with Thunderbird electronics and And Fender P bass maple freboard necks.
Alembic Exploiter / Spyder: Explorer type bass made by alembic with note name inlays (actual name of the note on the same frets dots usualy is at) and Flame maple top.
Warwick Buzzard: First generation of Buzzards, designed around mid 80's, had number inlays. there also was made 2 basses with modulus necks.
Status Buzzard: One piece graphite basses with roman number inlays.
I am not sure about the Alembic Dragonswing, as i have heard a few different vesions of it, that it was made from a sketch up that John had ordered, but never been made before his death, or that it was a fan wanting Alembic to make something like a Buzzard, but different enough to not be a rip off.
Apparently Entwistle wanted Alembic to make him some Buzzards, but the people at Alembic found it ugly. Personally, i realy like it.

The RD, as Entwistle write in the bass collection book is:
