Wow. Apparently he had several of these. There's one on the cover of the Bass Culture book, and a different one inside next to the dedication page. Neither one are this one.
Honestly this makes me sad. It just drives home even more that he's gone. I thought it was really sad when his son started selling off all his basses. Of course I would have loved to have been able to buy one!
He had like 200 instruments at the time of his death and his son sold alot of them...maybe even all of them very sad, i would have sold some just because i cant maintain that many.
I would guess a lot of stuff had to be sold to pay off debt. I remember Roger and Pete saying that John would need money to pay bills. So they'd go tour. A week after the tour was done John needed money again.

Yeah. He would lead the rock star life even when he didn't have any money coming in. And obviously he loved to buy basses and guitars. Who wouldn't?
