I was watching Fleetwood Mac on Vh1 last night, on John is an awesome bassist live. On that little bass solo on
"The Chain" he throws in some cool harmonics and what not.

John McVie was one of the reasons I wanted to play bass. Fleetwood Mac has some awesome songs with very tasteful basslines. He is severely underated. Anybody wanting to learn what to play to complement songs rather than show off should check him out.

I'm partial to the earlier FM stuff, the Peter Green and Danny Kirwan era bands.

My favorite McVie line is "Station Man" which is really simple yet also pretty hard to copy the feel.
