Strong groove bass playing and tasteful solo by John, and all round great performance by all players.

While I wouldn't necessarily call him out as my all-time favorite bass guitarist, he is definitely in the top tier. His technical mastery of BG is exceptional, and he also has extreme facility on double bass. I'm not sure I can think of anyone else who is as technically strong on both.
