Zooma and Thunderthief are two of my all-time favorites.... some really amazing music there.

I got to see JPJ on his Thunderthief tour, when he was opening for King Crimson. Best show I've ever seen.

Awesome show.
Funny story-it was go to the show, or go see my dad in the hospital (he just had his 3rd angioplasty). My brother and I went to the show. My dad said he would have, too!

+one gazillion! jpj is the MAN. his basslines are amazing, his tone is superb, his arranging skills are masterful, and he's a great songwriter. seems like a pretty down to earth guy too. i love the bassline in 'travelling riverside blues.' not technically as amazing as lemon song but it grooves so well. i too was blown away by thunderthief. i still need to get zooma. i'll never get tired of threads about jpj!

When people ask me who my heroes are, I say:

Mom, Dad, and John Paul Jones

He is my favorite bass player/musician EVER. Second place goes to Alonza Bevan who reminds me of a younger JPJ in some ways.

Just a side note - his playing on The Rain Song is extremely tasteful. Listen to the whole latter half of that tune. Amazing choice of notes.
