I had to add this

John is a great bass player that has been around for many moons. He had a "whammy-bar" on his bass way before anyone els.
He played with Ted Nugent, and was with Cactus for a while in the 70's.
He was a huge influence on me...

Polar Bear!

I played with Slink Rand in 1980 in IL and met John there. I remember his old Tele/P bass with the whammy. He also used nylon tapewounds on the G abd D only as I recall. He was something! Sort of a precurser to the Billy Sheehans of the world.

PS- I assume he was called Polar Bear cause he was the coolest.

I hung out with John this evening at a Rusty Day tribute that featured a lot of heavyweight players and he sounded awesome and was looking great.
