From the Australian band Karnivool. I have been absolutely HOOKED on their newest album, Sound Awake. This guy has some great licks, very tasteful and very creative. They get compared to Tool a lot, which I do agree- there are some similarities- but when you really listen, they are completely different. Just an insanely good band, with very talented players all the way around. Check em out.

A thread about Pete Wentz gets 23 replies and all kinds of action, while a thread about a bassist and band that rock balls gets none. Weird.

Shows what really sells... LOL.

Never heard of them, living on the east coast of the US. I'll definitely check them out, though.

Saw them live in NY at Don Hills of all places. Very cool guys. Also, possibly the best live band I've ever seen. Unbelievably tight while playing some sonically complex stuff that could easily turn into a train wreck if anything is even slightly off. Not terribly well known in the US, which is a shame. I haven't been this excited about a "new" band in 10 yrs.

Yeh love the Vool...Jon's a monster player, I saw them a couple of times earlier this year and they sounded better than ever.

His tone on Simple Boy and Goliath is just huge!!

They also pull off the odd timing stuff really well I think.

Make sure you guys check out Cog too, very similar stuff and good mates of Karnivool.

If anyone is interested in catching these guys live, they're coming to the states in about 2 weeks.
