Have seen him..

I sincerely believe this was a golden period of electric bass... the syth equipment wasn't good enough to do everything..the guys had to synch with a machine gun drum machine etc.

If you like JT.. there are tons and tons of very solid players from the same era.

If anyone wants a suggestion of a concept album format within this genre.. PM me you can buy a rerealse of it on CD for about $5 shipped.. the guys all went on to do studio work for film scores..

T.

Favorite Taylor bass lines:

(I'm Looking For) Cracks In The Pavement; New Moon On Monday; Some Like It Hot; Rio; Skin Trade; I Don't Want Your Love; Ordinary World.

Not that there aren't tons more to choose from...

Just a track to play to (no vox). I did this many times on guitar, and was nicknamed by a guy from Australia (who also filled this role) as "_ _ ark the Shark".
Actually McDonald was Such's shark, it's a pretty well known but not official piece of information.

His bass lines were pretty darn smart and efficient.
Both of these statements are true, IMO.

I really like only an album from Duran Duran, "Rio", and some songs from the others...but I've always thought that John Taylor's basslines are really interesting, with a nice middlerangy tone too...
I dig in particular his playing on "Rio" and "Notorius", that one is quite funky!

I really never realize it until recently but John Taylor is one of my biggest influences. I love his lines. Melodic yet somewhat percussive in a way. Dude can flat out play!

Him and Steve Harris are the reasons why I picked up bass. He's an incredible player.

Great player, cool lines and how often do the girls swoon over a bass player?
