At the risk of sounding cheesy, does anyone else appreciate his playing? I think his playing is amazing! He's all over the fret board...has his own sound too, I like that!
Check out especially "Rio", "New Religion", "Save a Prayer", the list can go on and on...
What are your thoughts?? |

Duran Duran was a phenomenon pretty well before "my time" - but when I finally gave it a serious listen, that bass made me really take it seriously. Nowadays I DO think he is a little busy, but he's still written some great lines. |

Very nice to see that others on TB appreciate his talent, because when I talk about him to my other musician buddies, they act surprised that Duran Duran would have any musicianship. Then, I play The Reflex for them and they act like they've never heard that bassline before.
Very good pop bassist! In the pop realm, John Taylor and Tony Kanal (No Doubt) are my two favorite players.

He has style, sound, ability, and (another plus) makes folks move/dance(sign that you are doing your job).
