Joseph Karnes?

I heard Fitz and the Tantrums on the radio, and now I'm digging bassist Joseph Karnes. I did a search here, and found no mention of him.

Seems to me the guy has chops. SO I googled him, and he's done some tasty stuff.

What does the list think?

I dig his playing! He was in Imperial Drag with Roger Joseph Manning Jr as well.

I was listening to the new fitz album last night. that guy is definitely a jamerson disciple! awesome stuff.
I've been googling him looking for more bands, gear, photos, etc. I haven't found too much.
I am a new fan of Joseph karnes.

I just found Joseph karnes on twitter (@topangajoe).
apparently he didn't play on the fitz & the tantrums record. he joined after it was recorded.

I am thoroughly digging FATT! Go immediately to Live from Daryl's House (google it) and check out their performance. It looks like the bass player for this one was Zev Katz, who I guess is attached to Daryl Hall, but his tone is to die for!

^Thanks for that Bigboote!

I just saw them in Boulder last night for the second time. I love Karne's playing, even if he wasn't on the album. He's a great player.

Just did a quick search for Joe here on TB. I'm a HUGE F&TT fan. I've seen them a few times including front row at Lollapalooza this year. I'd be going Thursday to Terminal 5 in NYC but I have an engagement I could't get out of.

Anyway, I was playing a wedding the other night in Jersey City and guess who was a guest? Karnes! I was outside after the gig and he came out saying he was a bassist, and we started talking gear. He said he was in a band, and when I asked and he said F&TT I almost fainted. He was telling my guys in my band that I was a "Monster" and he really enjoyed my playing. I was blown away. IMO he's one of the tightest bassist out there today. He's been in my top 5 since I saw them at Lolla. It meant a lot coming from him.

I didn't recognize him because he's not a flashy guy. He's actually one hell of a stand up guy and really genuine and humble. I told him how much I loved his playing and the band and he was full of 100% honest "Thank you's". Awesome guy. I'm really lucky I was able to meet him and talk to him personally about gear and music.

And yea, he didn't play on the album. He said a lot of the stuff (Breaking the chains of love (Track 1)) was Sebastian Steinberg going in and banging it all out in one take. Awesome stuff. Everyone should check it out!

Proof? OK!!!
