the way he holds that down while chris dave toys with your perception of the beat is absolutely ridiculous. makes me feel like all the studying of melodic concepts i do over chord changes is useless- this is where i need to be getting my workout.. in extreme pocket rhythms and beat placement..
just thought i should share this. i'm not even sure who this bass player is. |

|  | Registered User | | | | | Great sense of internal time, first time I heard of Foley was through a flexi disc that came with Guitar Player around '88, he was doing his thing on it, it was wicked.
The vid reminds me of a little quip from a bandleader I worked with years back, he always told everyone to keep their own sense of internal time, that way if someone messes up (especially on the kit), it doesn't turn the whole thing into a trainwreck and keeps the pulse, it was a good piece of advise. |

I was playing keys in those days. He can hold down the groove through all the madness because he plays drums himself. I don't the Clinton gig really shows what he's capable of as a drummer.
