WOAH.... I mean just WOAH! Unfreaking believable. These guys are amazing. Its not just the technical prowess on the instrument, that's impressive, but the way they interact and play together is just incredible.

They looked like they were having so much fun.

The guitarist from my band was there and we chatted afterwards. He's an older guy (50s) been playing a long time and has been to a lot of concerts. He said this was hands down the best concert he's ever seen period. I have to agree.

If you can, go see this show. DO NOT MISS IT!

I ended up getting to sit 3rd row and it was an incredible view and so close to the action that you could hear the guys breath, tap their toes, and at times hear their fingers against the strings.

To echo Topper's comment, it definitely wasn't just a chops fest by any means but a tremendous emotional musical experience. My favorite was "Milano" which featured Stanley on the upright. Amazing... I've never seen the upright played like that! Marcus played a sunburst fretless Fender Jazz in a few spots on that song and to me, it seemed like an intentional tribute to Jaco and as the bass was sitting there on a stand, it was kind of like Jaco was there with them.

They were well accompanied by keyboardist Frederico Pena and drummer (can't remember his name, they only said it once).

This is a show that shouldn't be missed! You will not be disappointed!

I now need to find a frame for my autographed SMV Bass Player Magazine cover!

So, it's 3:30AM local time and I am posting. The reason? I just got back from SMV in Charlottesville, VA. (I live in the Raleigh, NC metro area.)

What a tremendous show! I purchased the album when it was released and have enjoyed it, however, the live performance far exceeds it in sheer awesomeness. I was completely blown away. These guys are absolutely terrific together. They were having a good time wowing us with the songs they've written/arranged for Thunder and, at certain intervals, with their respective individual chops.

I went to this show being primarily a fan of Marcus Miller. I gained additional respect for him and was really impressed by Victor Wooten live as well. Even so, the show stealer was definitely Stanley Clarke on double bass. Absolutely incredible!

The drummer, Derico Watson, and keyboardist, Frederico Pena, really tore it up along with the three bass heroes.

Getting to meet Clarke, Wooten, and Miller after the show, shaking hands at the autograph table, just topped off the night perfectly.

This was well worth the price of admission and the drive. If this show comes anywhere near you, go! You will not regret it.

Even better, to Canberra where I love. I doubt the chances of that though.

Couple of pics from last night. No flash photography, it was dark and the guy next to me was rocking me out of my seat.

I've shown you mine, now you show me yours!

Mine too. I need to spend some time learning my camera's settings to get better low light pictures.

Maybe it's not the camera, maybe the blurriness we see is actually the air vibrating from all that low frequency thunder!!

Heh, my crappy phone pics from the Herbie Hancock show I went to last year are the same - blurred with awesomeness.

There were apparently some Stu Hamm bass clinics, but of course, he didn't come to our side of the country

Oh well, I'm still happy Herbie came here.
