Just got back from a Wooten show

in Londonderry, NH. It was a 200 seat venue - basically in an old house converted to a 'concert hall'. Some guy had to pull the curtains over the windows when house lights went down. I was in the last row, and about 30 feet from the stage. It was pretty awesome.

Same guys he's been playing with?
All new music, or some of his older stuff?
Which basses did he bring out this time?
I haven't seen one of his solo shows in a while. Lucky you.

Lineup: Victor, Regi, Derico Watson, Steve Weingart (keys)

Mostly new stuff, with a couple of old faves. They played for almost 2. 5 hours. It was a fairly low key show, but I'm wondering if that was due to the intimate nature of this particular venue up here. He played his 4 string Yin Yang for every song but one. He played the old 'main' worn Fodera JJ on one song. The 5 string Yin Yang sat on stage untouched.

Cool that he's using Steve. I guess Joe's out with Steve Miller. Steve's an old Cincy boy I met while playing The Blue Wisp back in the 80s. He's been an LA guy and logged time with Dave Weckl and Ringling Bros.! Fine player.

Man, why don't *I* ever find shows like this? I am so sick of huge venues where the sound sucks and you can barely see the players... this show sounds like freakin' heaven...

Saw him several years ago at the Copper Dragon in Carbondale, IL. Touring as "The Wooten Brothers" at that time. Pretty much mindblowing.

200 seat venue? holy crap! how could they afford to bring him to england for a 200 seat venue? either they stuck it to you on the ticket price, or the promoter lost big money, or vic's price is not what it used to be

i could swear it said uk instead of nh. honest to god, my eyes are totally shot now!

the part about the 200 seater place still stands, though. that just seems like an impossibility for anyone to make money.

Yes, I know what you mean. I'm new to the area up here, and I stumbled upon this show. the venue is the Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry, NH. It's basically an old house. It was like seeing him in your buddy's living room. It was fan-freaking-tastic.

I saw Victor back in 2004, and he had the whole entourage - Divinity, Anthony, the whole crew. Here, it was much more intimate. I was parked literally next to the tour bus out back. I'm so thankful that I found this place.

Oh, almost forgot...it is a BYOB venue. People were bringing in coolers. They have a little wine and beer cellar in the basement you can buy before the show.

FWIW, tickets were $40. This was obviously a filler show between Portland, ME and Boston.
