I'm listening to Japan and Porcupine Tree and I wonder if by some strange coincidence Mick Karn joins Porcupine Tree... Just imagine the possibilities...!!!

Japan... wow that's a band I don't hear enough of, Mick's playing is always unique.

... Yeah, that would be an interesting combination.

Mick was a big reason I play fretless.

Hmm, well.... I'm a huge fan of Porcupine Tree, and considering their sound is very disciplined and sober, I don't think I would like Mick adding his own flavor to the music at all...

He's already played with Barbieri (and Gavin) way back when, I don't think he needs to join back up or anything! It would be like a 1/2 Japan reunion with Steven and Gavin - I'll pass.

While being a Porcupine tree fan I always found the bass playing never here or there, just filling the role needed.

I feel they need to break loose sometimes. They take their songs to a certian level, but never bust free.

They remind me more of Pink Floyd in that respect.

When they had Adrian Belew solo on the last disc I thought it woul;d be great, but for me, it did not work. Just sounded like Adrian putting a solo OVER the song, not part of it.

I like the bass playing on Porcupine Tree's album already. Not really the main attraction, but I think it's a perfect fit. Anything more would be uncivilized.

It wouldn't be a strange coincidence at all, given that Gavin Harrison was Mick Karn's Drummer and Richard Barbieri was also in Japan. I would like to hear Mick Karn do a guest spot on one of their pieces though.

Colin Edwin is perfect as the PT bassist.
He's subtle, smooth and lets the guitars, keys and Gavin Harrison run when they need to...I think it's a perfect match.
