Great bassist, great band.
Also, I think It's a Kind of Magic was used in Highlander (for which Queen did all of the music) and not Batman (which I believe was mostly Prince).
Cheers |

They both seem to come from a very similar, melodically interesting and classic perspective. Neither are 'flashy' but both are very fun and intersting - and not 'typical'. I love both players lines and strive to be as clever and appropriate in my playing.
Not there yet... maybe in another 23 years. :-)

Just because he has chosen to bow out of the public eye, doesn't mean he won't leave the house!
But yeah - Wonderful, wonderful bass playing.

Although people tend to latch onto the more inyour face lines "AOBTD" (which in fairness is robbed from good times) or A kind of Magic..but you guys should check the earlier Queen stuff for some fantastic bass playing..
Off the top of my head:
Millionaires Waltz..A Day At the Races
Misfire................Sheer Heart Attack
Your my best friend.Night At the Opera
Killer Queen.........Sheer Heart Attack
*One Vision...........Live Magic..(listen for the guitar solo)
Machines............The Works
The Whole Miracle Album (yeah there are bass synths there as well)
etc etc
*I'd nearly swear that I read somewhere that John Deacon played drums on One Vision and Roger Taylor played bass??? anyone any info on this?

Queen were the first band I ever fell in love with, and I always will love them...

vocals - amazing
guitar - fabulous
bass - not particularly technically stunning, but definitely just what the doctor called for for their music.
i miss freddie big time, though. innuendo was a great album.

| | | | i love his lines at the beginning of songs, where freddy does a piano intro too, which is almost all queen songs. the tone is insanely delicious. anyone know what he plays to get it? i think ive seen him in videos with musicmans and fenders but i could be wrong. |

| | | | I was a guitar player learning "Crazy Little Thing Called Love"
when I realized that the bass line was so much cooler than the guitar parts.....
I got a precision, learned that bass line and just kept
going. I still pick up the guitar occasionally, but I'm a bass player now. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
