It was great!!
I traveled all the way to Atlanta to see the Brand New Heavies play in a rather small, dark venue in Atlanta...Andrew is great onstage! He has mega stage presence and was playing a Fender Jazz (not sure which model) thru an Ampeg SVT.
Not a flashy player, but solid grooves!
He did do a couple cool runs though.
His left hand technique is a little strange.
Anyone else ever seen him live? |

alright. andrew was using an ampeg svt2 head and 410hlf and 115 cabs. that bass looked like a custom shopper. the neck was a 75 RI neck with rosewood and blocks and the 75 RI logo. but the body was sunburst and had a tort pickguard. could have been a combo of 2 basses or a custom shopper.
at one point andrew jumped into the audience and grooved on down with everyone. slamming, absolutely great concert. |

Hes a believer in that you can get away with just two notes, it the way you play those two notes. Cool guy.

EDIT: I see the Toronto date was cancelled

I went all the way to Atlanta to see them, because it was the only concert announced after the summer tour (they came as close as Chicago). We logged on to their myspace page the DAY AFTER the concert, and all of a sudden there were all these tour dates, including none other than San Francisco! Go figure... |

Andrew sounded better than he did in Atlanta; his tone was smoother. He was playing well, although the reports were that he was not feeling well that night.
"You ROCK Andrew!!"
"Hey, I'm tryin, man"
"You're makin it!" |

I never had realyl listened to them jsut heard about them on here and I really like them. The bassist almost looks like Bona a little bit. He's a very solid sounding player. |

We ended jammin "have a good time" with them for 30 minutes. It was so cool. Ladies, watch out for Simon and Andrew - subtle is not in their vocablulary. They practically kidnapped our singers. Opportunity of a lifetime! |

| | | | Saw BNH at the Stockholm Jazz Fest a few days ago. What kind of bass is Andrew Levy using? Fender jazz with some sort of green/aqua finish. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
