| | | | I just discovered this SNL video as well and was blown away by this bassist!!!
Does any one have any idea what the synth effects are that he is using in the intro and when Jay-Z comes out??? I hear a lot of R&B players using that sound & I wanna figure out what it is! It sounds like an octaver but it wabbles the note a little bit and has very short sustain... hes prob using more than one pedal to get that sound... In that bass player interview it says he uses EBS pedals... |

Just wobbled the B string a little bit when I hit those notes and I was able to get the same sound he was copping. He's just playing super low on the B string.

| | | | Its definitely effect(s). you can see him stepping on pedals and there is a notable change of tone going from the intro -> the verse. I think the effect is more intense for the Jay-z section too. |

Too bad the FCC doesn't make it mandatory for a TV director to show at least ONE long lasting shot of the Bassist's rig when a performance is being broadcast! | Being directly behind Justin he got plenty of screen time IMO. He was killing it as usual.
I noticed the problem he was having on the second song. Looked like Justin couldn't hear him either... he pulled his in-ear out and when the keyboard finally kicked back in he put it back in. That's live music for ya... stuff happens |

What I suggested for the FCC:
at least ONE long lasting shot of the Bassist's rig
What was his rig though???, since you got such a good look! |

Whatever rig he might've had on stage, it would've been pretty low profile. Like knee high at best. He uses GK, maybe an old MB150.

A Marshall?? Guitarist's rigs? Who cares? This is a Bass Forum.
See, that's what I mean!
Aren't you near DC? Take this video to the FCC and DEMAND that that the Bassist's gear is shown, or at least scrolled on credits at the end of a performance!
I'll await your report from the Capitol.

I'll await your report from the Capitol. | Didn't say there were no guitar amps on stage . There's a Pearl drumset directly behind him and if he had a rig it's low profile and the logos weren't visible.
I'd bet that Adam was cool with just being visible himself. TV shows typically don't give a damn about showcasing rigs. And on TV you may not be hearing the rig anyway.
I used to go to the taping of Bobby Jones Gospel on BET, the house bassists used my basses and used to get actual camera time. Rigs, not so much. These last few years you couldn't even tell who the bassist was, they only did long shots of the bassist, guitarist and drummer. I watched at home on a hi def 84" screen and I couldn't tell . If you knew what they were shaped like you could kind of guess who they were, that's how bad the camera work was. I don't even bother anymore.
