Hey Everybody

As time goes on I seem to fall more and more in love with Karl's tone ( specifically on "Cool to be You") and was wondering if anyone knew either what gear he uses to get his tone or a way I could emulate it with my current gear (willing to make a few upgrades). I am still learning a lot about eq /effects etc. but any tips will be greatly appreciated.

My current gear consists of:
Spector legend 5 custom
Ampeg b2re head
SWR Triad cab
Boss gt 10-b multi-effects pedal
Soon enough I will have a Spector euro 4

As always thanks in advance

Karl does have awesome tone, doesn't he? I know "the sound is in your hands" is a big cliche, but I think it's true in his case. I've seen him play several different Fender basses as well as a Music Man, always through an SVT, and it always sounds like Karl. I'd say just dig in hard and go for it.

Kind of derailing my own post but do you think it's worth upgrading to an SVT

Nah, you've got a perfectly good rig. Don't worry about what gear he uses; work on getting the sound you're after with just your bass and your hands, and then it won't matter what you plug into.
Unless, of course, you want to go gear shopping..

Yeah he is pretty much the reason I started playing finger, I usually use a pick and play fast heavy stuff but there's something about his tone that I just can't get over. Thanks for the advice I definitely have a long way to go, but I will keep at it and hopefully will be able to achieve the tone I crave
