Kenny Aaronson on "Brother Louie"

"Brother Louie", the '73 hit from the band Stories, used to really annoy me as a kid. (It's my first name, so people kept singing it around me as a joke). But I stumbled across the song again yesterday, and the bass playing completely blew me away! I just Googled and learned that it's none other than Kenny Aaronson, who later played with...well just about everyone!

Anyway, just putting in a plug for a great funky performance. Aaronson is better known for his rock & roll gigs, but anyone who loves a great groove should definitely check it out.

Great tune; IIRC, Aaronson was channeling Chuck Rainey on that part.

+1, I had to re-learn that song for a New Years gig a few years back, and was still blown away by how cool that part was. I had the album as a kid, and I'm pretty sure that was the only song Kenny played on because he had just joined the band. Singer Ian Loyd was the bassist before Kenny.

The man is indeed a truly incredible bassist. For me his work on HSAS is one of my personal faves. Plus I don't think that Billy Squire's "Don't Say No" would have had half the impact on the charts that it did w/ another bassist.
