Kevin McCormick (Melissa Etheridge and others)

I was cleaning out my basement and found an old box of cassettes that lived in my car over a decade ago....

Wow, I completely forgot how much I love Kevin McCormick's lines on the first 2 Melissa Etheridge releases.

Jamming along with them today I'm shocked how natural all the tunes are to play... I'm thinking he may have been more of an influence on how I think about bass than I realised... maybe I just dig the tunes

Anyone else a fan of his his slap and fretless work?

I always dug his playing with Mellissa too, and got a chance to see him with Jackson Browne. He also does a lot of producing, probably why he's so tasty! Another one of those excellent players I never remember when those who-plays-fretless in rock threads come up.

definitely. I much preferred the first album to subsequent ones, I think his bass playing was a big part of that.

Thanks for putting a name to the sound. I dug it when it came out, the sound was so different than everything else happening. So, well--happening--
Peace.
ASG
what other stuff has he been on (I'm about to google him)
