No hate here, they still kept their alcohol spitting, drug using, d!ck swinging persona that I loved from all their other albums. "Closer", "Crawl", "Notion", "I Want You", "Cold Desert" are awesome non-radio specific songs from Only By The Night. Hell, in the context of an ALBUM, I listen the sh!t out of "Sex On Fire" and "Use Somebody", I don't even think about how overplayed the radio stations made them. In the album, they fit perfectly. | Odd, right? Grow up in a christian home and you end up writing a song called "I want you" about a girl who gave up her only true love and ended up doing porn. |

the media would make them out to be pop star darlings, and they just arent that way. 2 really good singles in, the world is in love. they put out notion.. nothing.
jared is a monster. keep in mind how much room they leave for him though. early on, it was kinda chordy blues rock. how much is he flying around in "mollys chambers"? he cant. kinda stuck. they make space, he fills it, and i love the guy for it.
as far as their faith.. well they are some odd type of christians. they'll swear and do drugs and whatnot, but at the end of the day, i suppose they are all about jesus. must be a southern thing.
ive been with them since ASH came out. still love them as much as i did now

Some people consider us the "buckle" of the so-called "Bible belt". Most Christians I know down here go to Sunday service with a hangover. Southerners tend to love Jesus, beer & bullets. (not always in that order). It may well be a Southern thing.
But then again, I can't imagine many people living a rockstar lifestyle and not indulging. Seriously... can you imagine being as big as KOL and not drinking, drugging & nailing groupies? It would be a display of willpower and faith I cannot fathom.

I don't know about the nailing groupies part but neither Henry Rollins or Ted Nugent (whatever you may think of him) drink or do drugs.
FWIW. I really like Jared Followill's bass lines. He leaves an interesting amount of space.

I saw them for the first time last summer at flippin Red Rocks!!! what an incredible night. if you've never been to a show at red rocks....buy a plane ticket. it really is an amazing thing. all the shows i've seen there were amazing. the weather/surroundings are so amazing i think it really inspires the band and they give so much. WORTH IT.
