| L.A. Bass Players beware!
Beware of a funk band called "IDC." They claim to be palying music "just for the fun of it," "practice" once a week and gig every 4 to 6 weeks. They are looking for a bass player. However, they take themselves very serious for weekend warriors and are just average talent. They go through bass players like cars through a toll booth and they've been a band for a very long time. Even though the band is of mediocre talent they have been blessed with a few top notch pro bass players, of which none have stayed; therefore, they expect whoever they tryout to be at the level of Chuck Rainey or Chris Stillwell, etc . . . Also, they rarely gig, the existing band members are allowed to make mistakes (you as a bass player are not). For how long they've been around they have no recorded music; they do "obscure" funk tunes and will change the songs to fit their mediocre talent which you will have no say in. They also have the most unproductive rehearsals of any band I've ever played with. I'm just trying to save a fellow bass player a lot of time. |
