just watched Abe Laboriels - New Bass Concepts on youtube....

He´s doing a lot of stuff that Victor Wooten is famous for today. I guess Vic has this thing on VHS....

Yeah, Abe Laboriel is known for being one of the first (if not the first) to use double-thumbs and flamenco strums on the bass, due to the fact that he started as an acoustic guitar player...I don't know if Victor Wooten name him as influence, but there are sure some similar things in the playing of the two monsters!!

Stanley Clarke was a Wooten-influence...e.g. "Lopsy Lu" (Open Hammer Plucks, etc).

I think while they may utilise some similar techniques, they are very different players. Both of them are amazing though!
