Lalah Hathaway: Self Portrait

Sign in to disble this ad
Check this one out! Lalah Hathaway, daughter of Donnie Hathaway is one of the most underrated singers alive. Many of you probably know her as collaborator with Marcus Miller. Her new solo CD is great with some great bass playing manly by Melvin Davis but with Marcus Miller on fretless for "Learning to Swim." This CD is a textbook example of supportive, low-key basslines.

I went to college with her and she was amazing back then. I've followed her career and she's really grown over the years. Fantastic singer.

I sure hope she has a hit. It is good when a singer who can really sing gets her due.

I have the cd. I think it's one of the best vocal cd's ever! I've always been a fan of hers and now I'm a fan of her sister, Kenya, as well!

She's very good. I love her tone. She does a lot of work with Lee Ritenour also. I'll have to check it out.

It doesn't hurt that she's really cute too! I have a schoolboy crush on Kenya Hathaway!

+1, I can't believe what a cute picture Lalah took for the cover of her CD. She looks better now than she did on her debut back in 1990 or '91!

Oh well, that's my fanboy moment for today!

Join the club. Been nursing that crush since about 1990.

Kenya sings on Lee Ritenour's DVD, Overtime, and she's one of the backup singers on American Idol. She's incredible and you're right, she is a cutie.

I had classes with Kenya and Lalah at Berklee, too. Kenya was very cool. I haven't heard much about either of them since graduation, that is until I saw Lalah's album in Target. I'm definitely interested in hearing the album.
