Just finished watching the first episode of the late show with Jimmy Fallon and I have to say the Roots have taken the "talk show band" to a new level. The sound was incredible. Owen Biddle's bass tone was sick and the rhythm section with ?uestlove sounded huge on everything they played. I didn't realize until just now that Hub isn't playing with them anymore. Check it out though, pretty killer!
Anyone else see it?
Cheers!

I think Jimmy was a little bit nervous and the interview with DeNiro was not good at all. ALmost to the point of getting really boring. Only reason I kept tuned was because of the roots. |

The band sounded tight though. I have a decent surround sound system with a sub and the bass was booming.
I read an interview with the Roots and although they have some mixed feelings about NBC owning everything they play on the show they seem pretty happy with getting paid (probably a lot) and not having to travel/ tour since they can commute from Philly. We'll see what happens!
Cheers!

| | | | Wait, The Roots are going to be the permanent house band for Fallon? I was looking forward to Conan taking over the Tonight Show, but this is some serious icing on the cake. Definitely going to be tuning into the new Late Night now. |

im glad i got to see the roots at Rock the Bells in july 2007 when hub was still around...one of my biggest bass influences, and one of my favorite bands!
