Late Show with Jimmy Fallon and the Roots

Sign in to disble this ad
Just finished watching the first episode of the late show with Jimmy Fallon and I have to say the Roots have taken the "talk show band" to a new level. The sound was incredible. Owen Biddle's bass tone was sick and the rhythm section with ?uestlove sounded huge on everything they played. I didn't realize until just now that Hub isn't playing with them anymore. Check it out though, pretty killer!

Anyone else see it?

Cheers!

I thought it was a very smart & hip move for Fallon to have The Roots as his house band, they sounded great!

I agree,
I think Jimmy was a little bit nervous and the interview with DeNiro was not good at all. ALmost to the point of getting really boring. Only reason I kept tuned was because of the roots.

Yeah. I agree that Jimmy was really nervous but I think (hope) he'll get better. Conan was pretty awful @ the beginning too. The band sounded tight though. I have a decent surround sound system with a sub and the bass was booming.

I read an interview with the Roots and although they have some mixed feelings about NBC owning everything they play on the show they seem pretty happy with getting paid (probably a lot) and not having to travel/ tour since they can commute from Philly. We'll see what happens!

Cheers!

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Roots! The slow and sexy news was hot! I will keep watching just because of the Roots. What happen to Hub? I chew licorice roots because of him!

Apparently (according to Wikipedia) Hub hasn't been playing with them since August 2007. Don't know the reason. Too bad though, he's an amazing bassist.

Wait, The Roots are going to be the permanent house band for Fallon? I was looking forward to Conan taking over the Tonight Show, but this is some serious icing on the cake. Definitely going to be tuning into the new Late Night now.

Check out the Roots tonight as the house band on Jimmy Fallons new show tonight. Killer sound! Amazing bass! And just watch for Jimmy, he needs all the help he can get.

Cheers!

jimmy was terrible the first night. but the roots killed it and justin timberlake was very entertaining.

im glad i got to see the roots at Rock the Bells in july 2007 when hub was still around...one of my biggest bass influences, and one of my favorite bands!

I thought the show was awful, but it's only the first show and I hope it improves. The Roots were the best thing about the show I hope they stay.
