I have dabbled with the bass for a couple years. But not steady until the last 4-6months. I want to be better....Now!:-) But really guys, what helped you with learning the bass. Is there any specifics other then just playing that I can work on that may speed up my ability? What was one of the things that really helped you guys along? Any help, ides would be greatly appreciated.

Trying different tequniques, styles, etc. But the thing that helped the most was playing with people. Getting into a band, or just jamming with a couple of friends. It gives you more motivation to practice, instead of just going through the motions. Try to learn a song that is a little out of your league right now, a challenge. I've found that I learn a lot by learning covers and such, because there are different patterns then what I would write myself a lot of the time.

Thanks for the reply Zapp. That is just what I have been doing. I started playing with a band(guitar, drummer)and these guys have played for twenty years. I have learned allot. I just get a little discouraged once in a while, you know, don't think I,m improving fast enough.
