Bethlehem, thats me. There's a lot of good bssists Ive seen locally round here. Some crazy talent for a small area. Im trying to flush 'em out on the site here. Hows the music scene in Reading? Good players? I never been there

I live in Harrisburg not too far from you guys. There used to be a great punk scene in the Lehigh Valley around the early to mid 90's.

Damn dude, you're number 4 on the Fender P Bass Club list? Thats a pretty high rank, and a great instrument too. That should raise the value of lehigh valley bassists. Harrisburg counts. Scene there?

About 8 years back there was a real good original scene starting in Harrisburg but that has seemed to die down a bit. There has always been a pretty big cover band scene.

There is also alot of old time 80's rockers in bands that are pretty decent.

I'm in Gilbertsville area, so I'm close to both Reading and Allentown.

Honestly, the music scene around here isnt anything to brag about, but then again, I only got back into playing out again a couple of years ago (been playing for 23 years) Back in the day, there was a great music scene in the LV. Do they still have bands at Croc Rock?

Croc Roc! Yea they still have bands there. Never been in that place. Seems like only pro level bands play there. The place to get a gig now is in the Sands Casinos in Bethlehem. They pay really wel, always have crowds, but you have to jump through some hoops to get in there. They have several bands playing there all week, each nite. I dont gamble but i love to go there just to listen to some live music.

Nice. You currently playing locally anywhere?
You ever see that band Post Junction? They're one of the best local acts and a hell of a funk band. I try to see them whenever i can. Their bass player gave me a great deal on a BagEnd SD15 a few months ago.

I'm from Carlisle, which is by Harrisburg. Travel all over central PA for work, so I figured I qualify to post.

Croc Rock brings back memories. Went to see Gov't Mule there while Woody was still with us. Great show.

Trying to get into the scene in the Harrisburg/Mechanicsburg area myself.

Hmmm....Ill have to tell my band about the Sands. My father still lives up there and goes there all the time. I remember when the Steel was still going over there. I havent been over that way in a long time.

Is it originals or cover bands that play there? Do you have any info on how or who to contact?

John

You can catch all levels of bands at Crocodile Rock.
There was a kid band (like all 13-14 year-olds) from my area that played
there (although they are a very good band).
I saw Body Count with Ice-T there.

Covers.
They book bands through an agency. I believe its called Media5 or something. Not sure. Im currently in a Fleetwood Mac/soft 80s cover band now and although im not the biggest fan of this music it has opened some doors around Lehigh and we're booked steady at other local places. Our band leader is negotiating with this Media5 now but im clueless with the process. I kind of like to just be told where the gig is and when.

Should we start an Amish bassists club now?
