Anyone out there a fan of Leigh Gorman or the band Bow Wow Wow? He is one of the most talented and underated bassists of all time. The album: When the Going Gets Tough the Tough Gets Going and The Best of Bow Wow Wow are great examples of his work. I worked with him on the movie: Desperate But Not Serious and he was a really cool guy. His slapping, strumming and frantic fingerstyle work is nearly untouchable. Anyways, check out his stuff.
"go wild in the country" has some mad bass playing on it- the bass taking more of a guitar role.
sounds like he was using a pick on that.
some early adam & the ants had similar bass- I had a look at his profile- http://www.xtrememusician.com/info/a...iles/1633.html
some interesting info about the production and remix work he's done.

It's currently a Smith's cover that features some NICE bass. I always loved his playing and that incredible mashed up-distorted sound he does so well. Enjoy!
Here's my contribution to a 9 year old thread. I just bought my dream Wal and I love it for the Leigh Gorman tone. I love his playing on tracks such as See Jungle (Jungle Boy) for it's rhythm or the frantic and melodic Quiver. I'd be stoked if he googled himself and read this thread. I think Bow Wow Wow were a pretty cool band. Props to all the band members and RIP to Matthew Ashman.
If you listen to Leigh Gorman on the original Adam and the Ants stuff(which isn't so great imo)...then listen to Bow Wow Wow, you realize just how fast this guy learned how to play bass. He's awesome.
