Is there anything in there besides a ric and an amp or does he use some distortion too?

He uses Marshall 100 watt heads cranked to deafening volumes (putting out closer to 180-200 watts), which gives him the distortion. Nothing else.

EDIT: He also uses 4x12 & 4x15 cabs as well.

Lemmy rules. He once said, "I turn my amps up to 13. Most guys turn them to 11 but that's not unlucky enough for me."

Now tell me the guy doesn't rule!

2xMarshall 100w Superbass.
2xMarshall 4x12
2xMarshall 4x15 (!)
Gain, Volume and Mid all at 3 o'clock
Bass and treble to 0

Straight from the horse's mouth.
AND he changed the pickups on his Rics to Barts or old Tbird ones. He once described stock Ric pickups as 'like chewing corrugated iron'. He likes his custom ones however.

Upon hearing Motorhead music the desire to consume copious amounts of adult beverages is the typical side-effect.

Lemmy > Me

Nuff said.

Yeh his tone is wicked. Lots of gain/mids and very little treble or bass.

Man, what's the deal with this? I wanna get drunk and fight when I listen to Motorhead. And I'm not like that usually.

The evil powers of rock n' roll. Honestly, Motorhead is the greatest ROCK band ever. Screw AC/DC Screw Led Zeppelin... when I'm talking about pure rock fury... it's Motorhead. That reminds me... Clutch in second place.
