Just watched the show Unsung featuring The Sylvers. Man, I forgot Leon produced and played bass on a lot of the Solar Records projects. He was killin on Shalamar's "Make That Move." But Foster Sylver's "Misdemeanor" is the one.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but there was a great Leon Sylvers thread a while back. I know DW Bass provided some nice links. I think I might have provided some also.

"Unsung" is a real eye opener into many of the artists I grew up listening to. I'm about halfway through the Sylvers episode and it's a pretty amazing story. It just reinforces how much behind the scenes stuff we typically aren't privvy to.

The Billy Preston episode was sad. Tammi Terrell too.

Unsung really does a great job telling the stories of these artists.

+1 I just discovered the series and it's fantastic. And yes, Sylvers is a killer!

Outside of his bass playing Leon is a nice singer and a prolific songwriter/producer(over 200 tunes). Leon Sylvers like the rest of his family is seriously underrated! Just a great group of vocalists, instrumentalists and music minds. They have given us alot of great music. Its really hard to get your hands on their early work and 99% is relegated to vinyl. Guys please join in to change that. Please sign this petition thanks.

After watching the Unsung episode my first thought is just download all the Slyvers music rather then let the crooks make more money off of them.

Well one could look at it like that sure! But I think the bigger picture outweighs that. There is no reason why they shouldn't have CDs and music out for consumption like everybody else. Also downloads online are all off of old scratchy mono sounding records...not the full listening experience. So why not have it remastered and have them get more exposure? More opportunities will come through that exposure! Plus pretending like they never existed is not helping their musical legacy.

One of my favourites.

Dynasty's "Here I am" is a monster line
