Just wondering if there are any Leon Wilkerson fans out there. I was listening to some old Lynard Skynard in the car and it reminded me of how this guy was actually pretty influential to me. He had really good tone for what he was doing, as well as having some good bass lines. I don't know if he is a pick player or fingers, what equipment he used, etc. I thought Lynard Skynard had some kind of love affair with Peavey, at least for some time.

If I'm reading it right - it looks like Leon died from some smoking related disease - didn't know that.

Leon was great!

Very inventive and melodic but never lost the GROOVE

He tended to play Jazz basses through Peavey rigs most of the time...

Leon was a HUGE influence on me, I grew up playing southern rock and his lines were so slammin'!

Anywho, I know he used Peavey bass amps and most of time he played Gibson Thunderbirds, I've seen photos with him and white Jazz bass too. I know after the plane crash and before he died he only used a Thunderbird and had a special type of strap set up so he could play it almost in upright position.

Also, before he used Peavey amps, it was all Ampeg.
