ok well i was wondering what every ones opinoins were on who is a better bassist judged by personal preferance i personally think wooten destroys claypool as far as technique goes and also dominates when it comes to playing all over the fret board so yeah people pitch in on who you think is better

This is a classic case of apples vs. oranges.

But I love both, so why debate it?

Music is not a competition. This type of inflammatory post amounts to verbal masturbation. While you may enjoy it, your time could be better spent practicing or talking about basses (as this forum is dedicated to talk about "bass guitars", if must post this stuff, the correct forum is "bassists")
Both bassists mentioned are extremely successful artists. You enjoy one better than another, good for you. Beyond that, who cares?

Welcome, new guy! First off, usually with topics like this they are beat to death. Do a search and you'll find lots of info.

Also, you're posting about bassists in the basses forum. Make sure you post your questions/input in the right place.

These guys you're talking about play two completely styles, come on... It's like trying to say "Which is better, a Ferrari or existentialism?"

It's a personal preference thing, 'cause both players are INCREDIBLY talented at what they do. So assuming you're asking about my personal preference, I'd say I like Wooten better, though Claypool tears it up in ways Wooten doesn't and sometimes I just prefer to hear that when the mood strikes me.

By the by, welcome to TB.

I'd lurk a bit longer to get the hang of how the forum works.

But welcome! I hope you enjoy the time you spend here.

In terms of outright technique, I think Wooten is much more technical. I don't say that to take anything at all away from Claypool, however.

Sig'd

Also blankstatue I'm sure the mods will move this to the right section and to answer your question. In terms of technical ability Wooten is superior.
