Let's hear about your REAL influences

All these threads about influences always seem to focus on the usual suspects, the JacoGeddyOxSquire influences. How about telling us about your real influences, your relatives and friends?

For me, it was my Uncle Eddy, my Mom's brother. He was a guitar and bass player who played in small combos back in the 50s and early 60s. He had some really nice equipment for the times - a 1956 Gibson Les Paul goldtop with P90 pickups, a Fender P-Bass from the late 50s, and a Fender Bassman amp he used for both guitar and bass. He taught me some cowboy chords on guitar, and that was that - I was hooked! Been playing ever since!

My youth minister Chris. He played guitar and suggested that I try bass out. We started a band and I've been playing in bass ever since.

My grandmother was a pro piano player. She raised me, so there was music in the house every day. The thing I dug the most was the foot pedal bass on her big Hammond organ, through the Leslie.
