Let's Talk About Mike Gordon's Tone...

Where to begin? I may be biased because I'm a huge Phish fan as well, but this guy has one of the coolest and most unique tones in the business. I'd love to be able to mimic this tone just for fun. Obviously, active pickups and playing with a pick would help.

Modulus for starters... but mike has a HUGE crazy signal path.

Might want to start here.

That first link is great.

Just noticed it says the Rhodes piano is a Mk II, but is clearly a Mk I.

i dont really like phish, but i own picture of nectar, and i think the bass is an absolute work of art... its almost required listening. sometimes i judge other bassists by how hard it would be for me to imitate what they play. thats tough record ! johnny a.
