I didn't know it but apparently they're on tour again! I saw them on the last tour and they were awesome, so, as you can imagine, I was quite pleased when my mam told me she'd got me a 4th row ticket (just like last time!).
Long live Mark King! |

+1 on that. It's great that Mike Lindup is back on board - Lyndon Connah was ok, but Mike's b/v's compliment Mark's voice better.
I assume the sale of Kingbasses might increase a little bit after Octobr's been & gone
Cheers,
Essexbass.

By the way I am a big fan. Probably the fan No. 1 in Sydney. Do you know that hardly anyone around here knows of him? Anyway, I envy you. |

Tell his sorry butt to get over here State side.
I could be the biggest fan here in the USA.
BTW, I have a copy of "Trash" that won't play anymore. It's not scratched or anything, just can't be read. (I think Mark burned them himself- has a paper label on it)
Anyone else have one they wouldn't mind letting me "borrow" to give a listen??!??!
You could MP3 it to me and I would only listen to it once. I promise!

There are a fair few American fans on the Level 42 web digest who have been asking the same question. Given that you guys have produced Larry Graham, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller & Vic Wooten over the last thirty odd years, Mark's popularity has certainly risen over the last ten years or so.
I can only only assume that doing even a few dates in the USA / Canada / Australia, either don't appeal to the record company / Mr. King himself, or the sales of the last album "Retroglide" didn't scratch the surface in those territories & therefore the record company aren't willing to take the risk. It would be a shame if the band didn't do any more gigs outside of Europe as they, or the record company probably don't realise that their fan base has increased.
I'm afraid I don't have a copy of "Thrash" but you can still get get it from www.level42.com as far as I'm aware?
Have you got any of the live DVD's? - they're really worth watching.
Cheers,
Essexbass

Essexbass. | Yep, sales probably went up after they toured last year as well...and thats a good thing as far as I'm concerned. I've had GAS for a Kingbass for a looooooooong time. One of these days...
But as for Lyndon, he had huge shoes to fill. However, his awful keyboard tones and rubbish singing voice (not to mention his camp-tastic leather waistcoats and silk shirts) just let him down. Much better now that Mike has come home! |

They had quite a following in the UK and Europe back in those days! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
