Sign in to disble this ad
you can categorize however you what want making up your own. favorite: slapper, tapping, soloing, rhythm, soloist, creativity, feel, Bassist in a band, overall, ect.
this has most likely been done million times here on TB, but I haven't seen any that are categorized.
you can list the same bass player more than once if you like for different categories.

Mighty McDeeds, the current bassists I work with now and for the past 7 years. Did some playing together about 15 years ago. Ohio bassists who cut his teeth on Jamerson and also paid attention to the rock scene. Solid, true, never wavers, enlightens the part every once in a while and ofcourse leaves room to move as I do. Share a groove, move away from it slightly and bring it back on chord changes or simple dynamics. We play in a three pc. rock band and when I put my Blues band out he comes into that unit and never misses a thing. He's funky while playing some rock n roll peddle crap, its in the genes hahahaha!!! If it ain't fun, I'm home. Doc

I've described Chris Squire's playing as "God-Like" and John Entwistle's playing as if "Possessed By The Devil!"

Cool, I'll play. My favorites are...

Bassist in a band = Duff McKagen for providing the right type of lines for that sound to come together

Tone = Eddie Jackson, Rachel Bolan & generally the lower end, smoother tone, booming midrange heavy Spector USA + EMG pickups + GK amp sounding guys ....

Conversely, my Least Favorite Tone = the trebly sounding tone guys like Squire, Entwhistle, Geddy... not disrespecting their playing or skills but just not my preference tone wise

Soloing = Billy Sheehan
Creativity = Yngwie Malmsteen
Best fit overall for a band = Nikki Sixx
Songwriter = Paul
Studio/Session = Carol Kaye, maybe someone can answer a question I had, did she write the lines on the Beach Boys stuff or did Brian Wilson?
Favorite bassist to play along with on records = Kasim Sulton on the Meat Loaf stuff, mainly because those are my favorite songs, he has some cool lines, Similar to Carol Kaye, I'm not sure if he came up with these bass parts or if Jim Steinman did
Favorite bass used by a famous bassist = Bobby Dall's neon green BC Rich warlock bass
