My first Ric was a '72 JetGlo 4001, just like the one in the video. Very, very nice.

Any clips of him actually singing the vocals and playing that at the same time? This is of course lip synching to the recorded track, which I'm betting was not sung and played at the same time.

Here's one, although the bass is a bit low in the mix.

I won that CD in a limbo contest at Loveland Ski area in 1995. Didn't like it then and don't like it now. That song does have a pretty cool bass part though.

Haven't heard that song in a while. I never realized it had cool bass either.

I loved Spacehog. Their "Hogyssey" CD was wonderful. Cynical pop songs that you can sing along to. I caught a few appearances they did on various TV shows, and he definitely can play and "sing" (not everyone's cup of tea, I'll admit) at the same time. Groovy stuff.

Yeah, there's plenty of live shows of him playing the line and singing...just follow the links of the other videos there on youtube and you run into them.

Spacehog was great, and a great sound. Just like many bands from across the pond, it's too bad they didn't fare better here. But I understand they were still touring as of late.

COOL! Thanks! I'm always suspect of people espousing someone as a great singer/bassist when the only evidence is studio work. As much as Peter Cetera's bass work is very good and his singing (at least before Kath died) was impassioned, everytime I saw Chicago live the bass parts were less inventive and played more mechanically live than in the studio. Same with Sting and even McCartney- the bass tends to be solid but more mechanical than live and flowing while they're singing.

Here's the boss of singing and playing at the same time. I think he's got two different brains- one controls the playing and the other controls the singing. Constantly reinventing and improvising the bass line while singing with the same sense of abandon and freedom.
