Yes ... he played a modded Ric for awhile. A lot of players didn't know about the .0047 capacitor in the wiring for the bridge pickup. So they would mod the bass to get more bottom end. All they really would have to do to make a Ric 4001 sound more like a bass is to remove the .0047 capacitor. And another good mod for 70s Rics is to swap out the 500k ohm tone pots for 250k ohm tone pots. With those 2 mods the 4001 still has plenty of treble but it will also have more mids and bass.

And he (Dawk) modded it like that? Strange choices for pickup placements.
