Living under a rock! (pun intended)

While I will admit that I must have been living under a rock (metal, hard, soft speed etc) for the last 3 decades. I must say as an aspiring bassist, I'm a bit embarrassed for not knowing who phenomenal players such as Jaco, Marcus Miller, Victor (Bailey and Wooten) and Stanley Clarke are. As of late I've been enjoying "The Toys of Men", "Marcus" and "Silver Rain" I'm slowly working my way through the list.

For the record, my guys are Geddy Lee, Steve Harris, Sting, John Taylor, Eddie Jackson and Flea. They're others (Billy Gould, on "The Real Thing"), but their names elude me for the moment. I do like the guy in Dave Matthew's albums.

At least you are being open minded and exploring the musical universe.

Just keep going. Remember it's not all about chops either, you can go back and look at Duck Dunn, Jamerson, Peter Hook, Jack Casady, Jack Bruce for a different outlook, then on to exploratory bass, like Mick Karn, Percy Jones, Steve Lawson, Micheal Manring, then on to punk like Mike Watt.
