Looking for artists

Hello all,

Not just a forum noob, but a bass noob as well. I do not currently "play" any instrument, and largely left the metal scene behind after the abomination known as grunge began to supplant it.

Being the guitar worshipping child that I was back 83, Cliff Burton really changed my perception of the bass. Really changed it.

So, having ignored music for the last 20 years or so and having just impulse bought a bass, which current artists play like Cliff did offering melodic compositions as well as the more percieved rhythmic thumping.....bad description maybe...

I would love names and or youtube links....

Not sure I totaly understand your question, but if you are looking for a few big names in Rock who have a more melodic/upfront style, then you may want to listen to anything by Rush or Yes.
