Looking for Specific Type of Jazz/Solo Bassist CD Recomendation.

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a good recomendation that has:

1. Electric Bass/Bassist
2. Primarily alot of the Bassist shining thru
2. Complex Jazz (sorta Gary Willis type)
3. But can have nice tension n' release, and break off into nice grooves

This is how I play at least. I can't find anything out there though like that though. Anyone?

...you could also put together the electric tracks from Patitucci's 1st few albums(John Patitucci to Sketchbook) & have a nice collection.

Like Relayer66 said, Stanley's School Days is awesome. But I was gonna say Jaco Pastorius's "Word Of Mouth". Some GREAT bass playing, even greater composing and very complex kickass jazz, and even a brilliantly arranged Bach piece (Cromatic Fantasy). That or his first album (self titled), both have tons of great bass playing and even more amazing compositions. Some of the best Jazz I've ever heard. (I'm addicted to Jaco)
