or don't It's just that my tone was recently compared to Chancellor and I'm not sure I like the idea.

I know Shepherd used flats, I particularly like his tone on Badmotorfinger... and Barlow's on things like Back toYour Heart...that kind of full, warmth with enough shoom.

My band members really like the tone I have, I'm thinking of dialing out some treble and bringing up a little mids...

I use: GK 700rb head, P bass, Tech 21 VT bass, EHX Bass big muff Pi, ME50B...

What do they each use?

i worked w/ lou barlow at a dinosaur jr a few years back. for that gig, lou used an ampeg svt & 810 and marshal half-stack with a jcm 800 simultaneously. his tech told me that he normally uses a fender bassman 300 pro instead of the svt. he had a few pedals, though i don't recall exactly what. bass wise, he used a fender '51 reissue with a pick.

Interesting, thanks for the insight.

He uses the 51RI now, but in the 80s and 90s AFAIK it was all a Ric.

I always felt Shepherd needs to be mixed in a little louder. Anyway I'm glad they're back together.

You have a point. I can't imagine it any different though, thought BMF was pretty spot on. Think the trend in rock since has been to mix the bass higher, but I think their stuff is at least very 'of the time'.

Yeah whatever he's using now sounds great live. The showbox recordings anyway. I just wanna hear new stuff, wasn't keen on black rain...plus the video is awful...the guitar hero deal and the whole Telephantasm thang...a money making exercise rather than a band getting back together because they want to. You can hear it in Ben's words when he did a radio interview around the time. I don't think all their hearts are in it...I hope they start being a real band again and write a great new album that follows on from DOTU.
