Lovesong bassist Jay Truax

Back in the early/mid 70's, I was greatly influenced by a Christian bassest from Southern California by the name of Jay Truax. There have been numerous photos of Jay showing him with his sunburst 1963 Jazz Bass, but very few show his amplifiers. There are several photos from the 76 Lovesong reunion tour that show him in front of what first appears to be an Acoustic 370, but on closer look appears to be some other brand, possibly a Woodson. Other older photos show various Sunn and Fender amps. Please chime in if you can identify those older amplifiers.

It was a Risson Head and maybe an Acoustic 360 cab copy (with the Blue mid section that look painted black for some reason) - I don't think Risson made a folded horn, and I think Jay was just trying out the head for Bob Risson. I asked Jay what he was using in 76' and he wasn't sure of the cab. I also asked him what happened to the Acoustic he used to use and he said he couldn't remember what came of it. He now uses a Fender Bassman

This was probably the head (or one very similar)...

And here is a photo of the amp in the background, circa 76'...

And recently...

Then and now...

Still Rockin'...

Thanks for the reply. I consider myself fairly knowledgable about older amps, but that one totally befuddled me. Hope Lovesong will one day do a reunion tour and play here in the southeastern US. Jay was a great inspiration to me, as a young Christian bass player in the early 70s.

They recently (last year) did a tour, I saw them live at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa. Was great! YouTube "The Love Song Band"
