Mac Arnold and blues bass guitar playing

I've been listening to Otis Spann's fantastic live album, "The Blues is Where It's At." The entire album is electrifying, but I particularly love the rhythm section of Francis Clay (drums) and Mac Arnold (bass). (Note: I'm a drummer, too.)

Arnold is so incredibly solid and grooving on this album it's ridiculous. If you play blues bass and haven't dug deep into this album, you're in for a treat. Arnold is quite busy, too, demonstrating a wide range of blues bass techniques. The dude is a master. Probably my single favorite blues bass album, ever.

Anyone else know this album or Mac's playing in general?

mac is one hell of a guy. i know him quite well. he has helped me out on some stuff. he lives here in the greenville s.c. area. he does alot of stuff for and with the youth in the area. he is an entertainer as well as a bassist. his shows are high energy and he also has the kids come out and play as well. he plays a 3 string made out of a gas can with a broom stick neck. he has played with all the greats. otis ridding, muddy, john lee hooker. he will talk with you about anything. he is a down to earth fella. thanks for bringin his name to talk bass.

I wonder what bass he used for that gig. Next time you see him, tell him there's a guy in Oregon who really digs his playing.
