Macca on Bill Black's upright

Here's a cool video of McCartney on Bill Blacks upright. He gives us a short rendition of 'Heartbreak Hotel' and does a commendable job of sounding like Elvis. His picking technique is wrong for an upright, but he can do what ever he want's and apparently buy what ever he want's.

Paul didn't actually buy Bill Black's bass. It was a gift from Linda, who I believe bought it from Black's widow in the mid-70s. He has used it on numerous recordings in the last 35 years.

Yes, a gift from Linda. Now THAT'S a wife! Last time someone posted this vid poor Paul took all kinds of flack for not having "proper" upright technique.

*AND* it's still strung for a right hander! So just like the old movie showed, he was so talented and able to pickup a righty instrument, flip it over and play it at will.

Aren't we glad he didn't stick to trumpet?
