Man vs. Machine (James Blood Ulmer, Jamaaladeen Tacuma...)

Anyone know what's up with these guys?
I saw them last year at High Sierra Music Fest and was absolutely blown away.
To watch two of Ornette Coleman's former band members rock out between Band Of Gypsies style jamming and morph directly into harmolodic out-jazz, and back again, was just insanity. One of the coolest groups I've seen in a long time. Since then, I haven't heard a peep about them. Anyone know what's up with them? Are they going to tour again? Are they recording? Was this just a one-off deal?

I can't believe I'm the only one that's heard of this group...or James Blood Ulmer and Jamaaladeen Tacuma.

Anyone?
C'mon erudite bass players, Jamaaladeen Tacuma is a pretty heavy cat!

You can also hear both in the early days of the Music Revelation Ensemble...a pretty heavy group in its own right.

Ulmer's Black Rock is a must-have, too.

Ulmer did two blues-based CDs w/Vernon Reid and others a few years ago that are excellent.

I know Jamaaladeen,Blood and the Drummer(if it was drummer Calvin Weston).they tour constantly as a trio and in various other projects as leaders in their own right but mostly out of the states(it shouldn't surprise you).Jamaaladeen and Calvin live in Philly while Blood lives in NY J.Tacuma and Calvin can be found on numerous recordings with Ornette Coleman among others,J.Tacuma,Blood and Calvin toured last year opening up for Gov Mule.Blood has released over the years a bunch of interesting recordings and most recently he's released three highly acclaimed Blues CD's all produced by Vernon Reid(one was Grammy nominated.Jamaaladeen with out question is one of the most original voices on electric Bass(he really is in a league all by him self)you will not hear another Bassist that sounds like him.I recorder some tracks a few years ago with J.Tacuma and Calvin Weston as part of the rhythm section with some other musicians for a spoken word artist that I work with and produce,I have the masters but I haven't got around to mixing it and getting it out to the public.Me, Jamaaladeen,Blood & Calvin Weston have talked about touring together but our schedules are hectic at the moment.

here's more info on J.Tacuma and Calvin

Cool!
Do you think Man vs. Machine will tour as a unit again, or was that a name for an ever-evolving project?

Again they tour constantly but under various names but 95 % of the time it will be Blood,Jamaaladeen and Calvin Weston and just about anything with these three names attached will definately be interesting.
