I have listened to Michael for years. "Thonk" was the first album I got of his, wish I still had it.

SSlap,Doh! To be honest I'd never really payed that much attention to that part of the forum. I guess I just never see much of him here in this section. I'll have to check it out.

Humble is a word I would use to describe Mr Manring when I met him this year.

Mr. Manring is to bass what genius is to bass.

The thing is, true genius.

I've heard him live at least 6-7 times. ANd when sitting in the audience, whether at Yoshi's or Fox or a bass clinic, the message is the same ... greatness beyond words, in every respect...

I just dropped in on the Lawson Manring forum. Looks like his latest post was in '06. Must be working.

They end-of-life threads in that forum like nobody's business. He's posted a lot in the past 5 years...

... (laughing!)

Cool. Well atleast he's an active member. Probably the reason I'm so in the dark on this is because I try not to make a lifestyle out of these forums or online stalk my favorite players.

I stand corrected. I guess I'm more concerned with info when I need it rather than what the greats think of my problems with my playing or my bass. Love to listen to them but hate to bother them with trivial stuff. I never see much mentioned of Mr. Manring here in the Bassists section. Usually cluttered with Cliff and Tal threads when I visit. Which was awhile ago.
