This I like! A real concert, and not just somebody jamming.

+1 to Cheese's comment

Thanks for posting this!

I remember when some were shocked that Marcus switched to SWR. Still sounds just like him. Just goes to show you, it ain't the gear, but the player.

Hi there,

Sorry if I'm late to the party, but when did Marcus switch back to SWR and why?

Holy crap that's good. Not a million miles an hour just pure fat groove.

I've played that Marcus Miller Jazz Bass. They play nice. I'm not a big fan of Fenders, but I'd consider that one.

I like it too. But then, he has backing musicians so of course you'd expect a show, as opposed to a young musician trying to get to the next level sitting in a booth with no one playing with them. I think the tendency would be to overplay to get attention.

Forgive the "newbish" question, but which Marcus Miller album is a good one to pick up? One that grooves and displays Marcus' solo abilities?

EDIT: All of them doesn't really help

Which is the quintessential Marcus' album?

You're right arbirtary all of his albums are good. But if you don't have any I'd start with "The Sun Don't Lie". Great album especially his version of Teen Town. Hope this helps.

P.S. Why did he switch to SWR?, come on man.

Gregoire sure shows up on a lot of albums by bassplayers I dig, like Janek Gwizdala, David LaBruyere, Meshell Ndegeocello etc. wonderful player!

That is my favorite Marcus album.

Why did he switch to SWR? I think it's because he's really close with Fender products and because he's coming with a signature preamp with them.

He was really impressed with Mark Bass amps at namm BTW

A signature preamp!, time to dust off the old credit cards . Pardon my ignorance but I'm assuming Fender owns SWR now? Do you know why he was impressed with the Markbass stuff. I know a little vague but bear with me . Anyway, Thanks!

Yes, Fender owns SWR now and i think it's easier for him to deal with a local company than with one overseas.

Why was he impressed with Mark Bass stuff??? Cause i was there, i took that pic and he was talking with Marco, the owner of Mark bass and then proceeded to take out his jazz to try a very little stack with two 4x6 cabs and a really small amp (can't remember the model) and man... it sounded really good and fat, just like he always does.
He even boosted the bass on his bass and the cabs handled it very well.

On a funny note: The first time i tried a Mark bass amp at guitar center i used a Marcus sig bass and was instantly sold with the sound from that combination
