Don't hear much about KONG, but they've been releasing stuff since the late '80s. Took a break and reformed in 2009 with a new lineup. Released the excellent "What It Seems Is What You Get". I would also recommend "Earmined", "Freak Control", and "Push Comes to Shove", as well as all their releases.
Just wanted to bring some attention and see if there were other fans out there. First heard them in '88 and thought they were really the first "electronic groove" sort of metallic instrumental band. Ultra groovy, thematic, and tons of bass tones. Very nice monstrous and thick ones. Mark used to play a MusicMan but uses different basses and sounds in the clips I've seen.
Great instro stuff with groove, samples and lots of electronica.
I think they deserve some credit for maybe creating a type of crossover style that never got recognized. |
