I don't know if this belongs in the Recordings forum, but here it goes.

Just wanted to share my good review of Mark Egan's recent CD, "As We Speak."

Incredible. I didn't like Mark much before because he put out some really cheese records in the '80s and '90s, but this one is a must for fretless fans.

I'm amazed at his lyrical approach and beautifully paced melodies - no shredding or overplaying - the whole pace of the album is great, and the production is very clean and simple: no overproduction. Not to mention that John Abercrombie is one of my favorite guitar players.

His tone is warm, and full of mwah, although I think I would rather hear an even more passive/organic tone.

I agree! This is a great CD! I wake up to it every morning. I have Disc1 in my alarm clock and Disc2 out in the car. It puts me in my happy place.

Just got this disc a couple of days ago. I'm lovin' it! It seems as though Mark's tone has changed somewhat, lots less treble/nasal-more organic/warm. Incredible musicianship all around!

Mark is a great artist! I would LOVE to hear him play on an acoustic electric bass. I think that the subtleties of his fretless playing/fingerings would really shine through on an acoustic hollowbody bass.........
